Who Is The Smallest Government Spender Since Eisenhower? Would You Believe It’s Barack Obama?
With the Democratic and Republican conventions and the impending election, politics is clearly top-of-mind
for many and online sharing is reflecting that trend. Forbes writes that despite many claims that President Obama is a “big spender,” he actually has spent less federal money than any president since Eisenhower. The article, which was shared over 354,000 times, writes that those claims are often based on the massive budget in 2009, but that budget was set by the Bush Administration and was in effect months before Obama took office. But that also means that all budgets through FY 2013 will be charged on the Obama account, “even if a President Willard M. Romney takes over the office on January 20, 2013.”
